In a recent announcement, Vizio – the maker of low-cost LCD televisions and Blu-ray players - said that it is expanding its existing product lineup with the addition of 21 3D high-definition televisions (HDTVs), including one which will have a 71-inch screen.
According to a Yahoo News report, all of the forthcoming HDTVs from Vizio will use the Theater 3D passive 3D technology which was introduced by the company in December. In addition, these TVs will all work with polarized lens 3D glasses that are comparatively less expensive than the active-shutter glasses most other 3D TVs require.
Furthermore, all of the new Vizio HDTVs – 3 of which will have traditional CCFL backlighting; while others will have LED backlighting or edgelighting – will allow users to access online services like Netflix and Hulu Plus.
Most of the forthcopming Vizio HDTV models will also offer QWERTY Bluetooth remotes that will allow the users to not only control the television, but also enable them to enter text for Twitter and other communication services.
The new HDTV models for Vizio’s Via Plus line will include the 56-inch XVT3D556SV and the 47-inch XVT3D476SV HDTVs. Both these models will reportedly run Google TV; and will boast the capability of directly communicating with Vizio’s new handset and tablet.
