Eight New Coolpix Cameras unveiled by Nikon

Monday saw Nikon announcing eight new cameras, which also include one that is capable to back in time by one second to capture ten shots before the one taken by the user.

The secret by which the 12.1-megapixel Nikon Coolpix P90 is able to go back in time is that it always is shooting, right from the moment when the user presses the shutter release button; it starts saving the previous ten photos that were automatically shot. However, it should be noted that the previous ten photos will only be 3-megapixel captures.

It has been learnt that P90 by Nikon would be a superzoom point-and-shoot, which would provide 24X optical zoom through a very wide-angle 26-mm lens. A 3-inch LCD is also offered by it that extends and arches through a little arm, as well as an electronic viewfinder, which is just a tiny LCD screen. Other features that would help the user capture a great shot include face detection, optical image stabilization, and anti-blink technologies. The P90 that would be launched in March would be priced at $399.95.

Apart from this, latest additions to Nikon's L-Series line of value cameras were also announced, that includes the company's least expensive camera to date.

The company informed, "The Coolpix L19 will retail for just $109; it will be an 8-megapixel shooter with a 2.7-inch LCD screen and 3.6X optical zoom, and will use two AA batteries." It added, "For $20 bucks more ($129), Nikon will offer the L20; the differences being a large 3-inch LCD screen and a 10-megapixel sensor."

Last but not the least, in the series is the Coolpix L100 which is a 10-megapixel camera and features 15X optical zoom and optical image stabilization. The price tag of this camera would be $279.95 and all the L-series cameras could be availed later this month.

Nikon has even updated the S-series, Nikon "style line" that concentrates on slim builds and high-end features. It would be really exciting to know that all the cameras included in this series will have optical image stabilization, improved face detection that can trail a subject even while in motion, automatic scene selection, and red-eye fix which can remove red-eye effects after the picture is taken. The users will be able to avail these models in multiple colors.

"The S-series is headlined by the S630, a 12-megapixel, 7X optical zoom camera with a 2.7-inch LCD. It will retail for $279.95. Next up is the S620 which will offer
12.2-megapixel captures, a 4X optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD, and a start up time that's only seven-hundredths of a second. The S620 will retail for $269.95," said the company.

The third camera that has been announced in the S-series is basically a touch-screen model, the 10-megapixel S230 that would carry a price tag of $229.95 and provide a
3-inch LCD, plus a new graphical user interface that differs from the existing S60 touch-screen model. For users who are seeking quite affordable camera, the 10-megapixel S220 would be perfect, which carries a price tag of $149.95. This camera is less than 0.7-inches thick and has a 2.5-inch LCD and a 3X optical zoom lens.
