At the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this week, Sony Ericsson announced its latest Android 2.3-powered handset in the Xperia range – the ultra-thin, lightweight Xperia Arc.
Equipped with a 4.2-inch multi-touch ‘Reality Display’ for superlative viewing angles, the new Xperia Arc boasts the Mobile Bravia engine, which promises sharp, crystal clear images and video. Sony Ericsson has been touting that the new Mobile Bravia engine is capable of offering “ultimate multimedia and viewing experiences.”
The key specs of the 8.7mm-thin Arc, which has an attention-grabbing concave back, include a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, GPS, 512MB memory, Android ‘Gingerbread’ version, and 8GB of storage included on a microSD card that can support up to 32GB. The handset supports 3D as well as motion-based gaming
The Arc’s camera is equipped with the Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor and f/2.4 lens that enables the users to capture of high-quality pictures and HD videos even in dim light. In addition, the built-in HDMI connector of the handset facilitates the sharing of the pictures on an HDTV.
Packed with a glut of high-end technology, the new Xperia Arc will be available in two colours - Misty Silver and Midnight Blue. The release date and the pricing of the handset still remain undisclosed.
