According to the latest reports floating around, Crackulous has been released, which is an iPhone application that makes it easier to pirate iPhone apps for use on jailbroken iPhones.
Crackulous strips the copy protection scheme put in place on iPhone applications purchased from Apple's iTunes Store, allowing anyone to share the cracked app with friends or on BitTorrent, peer-to-peer networks, or file-sharing Web sites.
However, it would be worth mentioning that there is a little twist in here.
The author of Crackulous, in an exchange posted on technology blog, Gizmodo emailed to specify that a link that Gizmodo posted to Crackulous actually linked to a pirated version of Crackulous.
Now isn't this an irony, that the maker of an iPhone app allowing users to pirate other iPhone apps had their own app pirated, and got upset over it.
"I need people to support my work... I deserve appreciation," wrote Crackulous' creator in one of the emails, even not understanding the fact that Crackulous's meager existence means that some iPhone app developers will not get the appreciation and support they are due.
