New Inroads into ADHD Made

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Nottingham has revealed some intriguing facts about a psychological condition that effects a lot of children across the globe. Apparently, CT scans of children suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder have revealed that people affected by the condition face trouble in concentrating on things.

The researchers have further expressed that the new discovery might as well explain the reason why a child is able to concentrate on things in a much better manner when something interests them but get bored when something is not interesting. It was also opined that children suffering from the disorder might be able to work better when they’re provided incentives for their work.

The study was carried out after the Wellcome Trust had paid for all the procedures. Children with ADHD particularly failed to to concentrate when they were provided low incentives for their work, as they could not switch off the mind-wandering functionality of their brain.

Talking about the study, the Lead Author, Prof. Chris Hollies from the School of Community Sciences, informed that the study was particularly exciting, as this was the first time that scientists have been able to understand how the brain of a child, suffering from ADHD works. The incentives and concentration link in particularly was very interesting.
