Changes lead to Ford’s success

The Ford Motor company in the year 2010 has seen an increase in its sales which is almost twice than that of industry average. The company's rise in the U. S market is the biggest ever in the history of an automobile company. It is an overwhelming achievement for a company which was almost on the verge of bankruptcy 5 years ago.

Ford had lost its dominant reputation in the U. S market since 1920s mainly because it is very slow in updating the Model T. In 2000s, the company wasted billions and in the end just managed to avoid bankruptcy. Reasons such as over adherence to some strategies and ignoring others contributed to the company's downfall. The Executive Chairman of the company, Mr. Bill Ford, said that the people had been complaining that the company was not changing with respect to the time. But after such a successful year of 2010 the Executive said that the company was ready to break the notion and make the necessary changes. The Chief Executive officer of the company, Mr. Alan Mulally, has transformed Ford into a simpler organization which will be able to react and make changes very quickly. The introduction of some new products from the company along with the stumbles faced by their rivals such as Toyota & General Motors have helped Ford Motors to regain their dominant position in the U. S market. Mulally also got rid of the company's excess brands like the Volvo, Landrover and Mercury which helped the company to focus on its core brands.

Mulally has put a new system that enables the managers of the company to react to the market changes and deal with other issues more quickly. The effective communication among the company's top ranks will enable it select the next Executive from company's personnel itself. Thanks to the changes made by Mulally the company can now respond to crisis situations more effectively and quickly.
