Easily distinguished by big wheels and tall grille as once top-selling sedan Chrysler 300 makes a comeback in a completely new avatar. This is an important and the most significant launch in the recent times for the company which needs to earn big before going public.
The main drawback of the manufactured cars is its mileage which is not only below the industry average calculated to be 22.5 mpg but also quite below the leaders Toyota. Thus it has always been exposed to the oil inflation. Its losses amounted to 453 million dollars in the 1st 3 quarters of the year 2010.
Thus to rectify the mileage problem the sedan has increased its mileage by 8 percent and the other changes comprises of anew sleeker look as round headlamps got out making way to the rectangular ones and the grille is also toned down. The interior now has dashboard lighting and soft looking surfaces.
The Sedan 300 once produced huge profits like its maker but was neglected in the current years. The big vehicle has a challenge to face as it comes out in a time that bodes increases of gas prices reaching 4$ a gallon in the current year.
The company needed a govt. bailout of 12.5 billion dollars and few hearings of the bankruptcy court avoiding liquidation. The current position is better though. During that time Sergio Marchionne the Fiat CEO managed the company after getting appointed by the Govt. and he by sharing design, engineering and technology with Fiat in Italy saved the company and with that the workforce was slashed by thousands as the factories were closed.
Thus the company is looking to get a new start by launching a new looking Sedan 300 whose price is expected to be around 28000$ and as per Chrysler the car can compete with the Lexus LS460 and the BMW5 series.
