Spears sued by former manager

Los Angeles  - Britney Spears was sued Tuesday by her former manager Sam Lutfi, who accused the singer and her parents of defamation and breach of contract, libel, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, according to court documents.

The lawsuit came days after Spears' father, Jamie, obtained a new restraining order against Lutfi, accusing him of harassing the Spears family.

In the lawsuit, Lutfi, who claimed to be Britney's manager after the two met in 2007 at a Los Angeles nightclub, accused her parents of destroying his reputation in public statements and in a book her mother wrote about Spears's public breakdown last year. He also claimed that Spears reneged on an oral agreement that he would be compensated 15-per-cent of her earnings as her manager. (dpa)
