Fuji releases FinePix F200EXR, the first camera to use Super CCD EXR technology

It’s the camera that has introduced the Super CCD EXR technology to the world; it’s touted as the most advanced compact digital camera; well, it is the new FinePix F200EXR digital camera released by Fujifilm U.S.A., Inc. on Wednesday.

Fujifilm's latest and greatest, FinePix F200EXR digital camera is a superb convergence of the 12-MegaPixel image sensor, Super CCD EXR, mighty Fujinon 5.0x wide-angle 28mm optical zoom lens and a wonderful 3-inch high-resolution LCD screen.

Its 12-MegaPixel image sensor helps a user to change the light-capturing photodiodes to optimize for different image quality factors. Termed as Super CCD EXR, the new sensor helps to optimize sharpness, noise reduction, and increased dynamic range for larger color depth in dark and bright areas of photos.

Pioneer in using the Super CCD EXR image sensor, FinePix F200EXR is also equipped with face detection technology that can detect up to ten faces. It also comes with mechanical sensor shift image stabilization, and a "Portrait Enhancer" mode, which can make the skin blemishes lighter.

FinePix F200EXR’s Super CCD EXR sensor offers 3 modes – "Fine Capture," "Pixel Fusion," and "Dual Capture”. The Fine Capture mode helps to create a sharp 12-megapixel image. The Pixel Fusion mode helps capturing less noise; it groups photodiodes together in pairs to enhance light absorption for a 6-megapixel image; and it helps to give better shots in low light. The Dual Capture drops to 6-megapixel, but helps capturing two images, one overexposed and one underexposed; then, it joins the two images to develop one picture with a larger dynamic range. The Fuji FinePix F200EXR will be available for $399.95 later this month.

Commenting on the new FinePix F200EXR digital camera, the marketing manager of Consumer Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging Division of FUJIFILM U.S.A., Inc., David Troy said, "Consumers have realized there's more to a good picture than just the number of MegaPixels, and with our Super CCD EXR sensor we prove that true image quality is about a combination of many factors like tone, hue, color fidelity, dynamic range, sharpness, and resolution -- all brought to life vividly in the FinePix F200EXR."

Fujifilm, on Wednesday, also brought out the 10-MegaPixel A150 digital camera, which is not equipped with the Super CCD EXR sensor. However, the camera, powered by two AA batteries, comes with Face Detection technology for up to six faces, a 3.0x optical zoom lens, onboard red-eye correction feature, and large 3-inch LCD screen. The A150 will be available for $129.95 later this month.
