The new head of Barclays, Bob Diamond will face a flurry of questions by British politicians regarding the big payout that he is going to withdraw this year. Apparently, the millionaire banker will be withdrawing a total salary of more than £9-million for the year, which will be inclusive of his yearly £1.35-million payout.
The new development comes, even as PM David Cameron had refused to question bankers about the huge sums of salaries they will be withdrawing this year.
Apparently, Cameron's announcement came, as the Tories suffered a major setback, when Stuart Wheeler announced that he will be supporting the UK Independence Party from here onwards. It needs to be noted that the 59-year old American, Diamond has been able to earn an estimated £75-million over the past five-years.
Another thing that MPs will question Diamond about will be the 143-Companies that Barclays, currently owns in the Cayman Islands, and uses to dodge millions of pounds in taxes. It needs to be pointed out that the financial institution is able to generate an addition £1-billion annually, by using such unethical ways.
Mr. Diamond will be grilled about the reason behind him getting paid through a Barclay's subsidiary in America, whereas he is currently working the UK. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Diamond continues to pay taxes in America, in order to enjoy the services that are provided by the health services in the country.
