Injectible Drug to Banish Double Chin

A German firm is going to commence clinical trials of an injectable drug that has the potential to vanish double chin.

Bayer, the pharmaceutical company and the maker of the drug ATX-101 stated that the drug had the power to breakdown small amount of fat cells and it could be administered with little or no anesthesia.

The new drug will prove beneficial for millions of people who have double chin. Yvonne Moeller, spokeswoman for Bayer told that the drug could show its effectiveness after around 16 weeks.

More than 700 volunteers in Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Italy have been involved in the clinical trials of ATX-101. The drug will be provided to the patients in doses of 40 to 70 mini-injections. If the trials work out well, it will be a boon for those who want to get rid of double chin.

The amount of the drug to be injected depends on the size of the double chin, but for good results, it is recommendable that a doctor in many sessions provides 40 and 70 tiny injections so that fat cells get dissolved properly.

Jean-Paul Ortonne, a French dermatologist said, "This is the first step towards a well-studied, clinically-proven treatment to reduce localized submental fat without surgery".

It has been expected by Bayer that in 2014, the drug will be available in Europe, Asia and South America.
