LG's new product Android handset and the first dual-core mobile handset of the world called the LG Optimus 2X will be launched in the UK on 21 February 2011, and will cost five hundred pounds as unveiled by Expansys, the online retailer.

Available to pre-order at present as a SIM-free device, the Optimus 2X was officially revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show that happened in Las Vegas in the last week with the 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor touting device taking the world's first title by a matter of hours. Motorola followed the footsteps of LG unveiling by launching its own dual-core bragging handset the upcoming Motorola Atrix later the same day.

As it has its boosted up processing power the LG Optimus 2X is also the first handset of its kind to offer full HD 1080p video recording and playback capabilities, beating the collection of 720p capable handsets that dominated the mobile market until the year of 2010.

It is ready to get shipped with Android 2.2, FroYo, pre-installed, with a 2.3, Gingerbread, upgrade already announced, the Optimus 2X's striking spec sheet is completed with the inclusion of a four-inch WVGA touchscreen display, eight Gigabyte of built-in storage and the full selection of connectivity options.

LG has not yet announced the pricing, official release dates and network carriers for the Optimus 2X.
