Mozilla releases Firefox 3.0.6 that fixes critical security bugs

It fixes several security bugs and it addresses several stability issues in the Web browser; that's what Mozilla stated about the latest version of its Firefox browser, which was released on Tuesday.

The "Version 3.0.6" of Firefox browser, according to Mozilla, is an update to Firefox and it fixes six bugs, the worst out which is the one associated with JavaScript. One of the bugs associated with layout engines, affects the browser's layout engine. These are critical issues, according to the developers of the latest version of the Firefox browser. The attackers can exploit these flaws to run unauthorized software on a victim's PC. Mozilla's Thunderbird e-mail client and SeaMonkey Internet software suite are also affected by the flaws.

The first update of the year for Firefox, according to Mozilla, also fixes five other less critical security bugs in the browser. The update include performance & stability improvements, which include new code helping scripted commands, like Adblock Plus, to work better with plug-ins, and addressing display issues.

The update has probably come, as Mozilla is presently gaining and surging in the market dominated by Internet Explorer. The figures released on Monday by Web Metrics Company Net Applications show that in current global browser market, Internet Explorer has 67.55 % share, which is 7% down in a year, but on the other hand, Mozilla's Firefox browser has gained in the market, surging 3% points to 21.53%.
