Dell's recently-introduced Vostro 460 tower for small businesses has become the first of the PC-maker's SMB (small and midsize business) desktop PCs to feature the new "Sandy Bridge" quad-core processors from Intel.
The Vostro 460 - which begins at $599 - is essentially a Dell desktop tower chiefly aimed at SMB owners. The design of the Vastro 460 is fairly similar to that of Dell's newly-unveiled Vostro V130 laptop, which, as per Dell, is "the world's most beautiful small business laptop."
Other than offering Intel's new "Sandy Bridge" quad-core processors, the new Dell Vostro 460 also boasts the on-board presence of Intel's Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. In addition, the Vostro 460 features 16GB of dual-channel DDR3 (double-data rate) SDRAM memory at 1333MHz, and up 3TB of storage capacity - with the tool-less entry feature of the chassis further facilitating memory expansion.
The Vostro 460 features up to 150W graphics card; has a 350W power supply; and supports Genuine Windows 7 operating systems. Furthermore, it has 8 USB 2.0 ports, along with an optional USB 3.0 add-on card for backing up files to an external hard drive. It also includes support for business graphics, along with the option to upgrade to 1GB Nvidia or ATI HD discrete graphics.
Moreover, the 460 not only supports small businesses with light or nonexistent IT support, but also includes security features from Trend Micro, and the option of 24/7 Dell ProSupport, Dell DataSafe Online Backup technology and Dell Accidental Damage Service.
