According to a recent revelation by online retailer Expansys, LG's new flagship Android smartphone - the LG Optimus 2X - will be relased in the UK on February 21. The £500-priced handset will be the first dual-core smartphone in the world.
Powered by Nvidia's Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz processor, the LG Optimus 2X will boast the multi-tasking capability as well as 1080p video recording and playback, thanks to the handset's revamped processing power.
As such, the Optimus 2X - the exact launch date and pricing of which still remains officially undisclosed - will be a cut above the horde of other currently-available, 720p-capable handsets that largely dominated the mobile market in 2010.
The handset will feature a 4-inch WVGA touchscreen display, 8GB of built-in storage, an 8-megapixel camera, a HDMI-output, and a complete range of connectivity options.
The LG Optimus 2X, officially unveiled last week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, will initially ship with a pre-installed Android 2.2 FroYo version, with a 2.3 `Gingerbread' upgrade already announced. As such, the handset will allow the users to avail all the advantages of the Google Android operating system. However, LG is yet to announce the official network carriers for the forthcoming handset.
