UK retailers begin taking preorders for Nintendo 3DS

According to a Eurogamer report, some of the UK stores - including WHSmith, Best Buy and Woolworths - have started taking preorders for the forthcoming Nintendo 3DS handheld, even though there appears to be no agreement on the price of the device.

With speculations galore that the price-range of the Nintendo 3DS will be between £230 to £300, several sites have also gone live with preorders for the portable gaming device; at a placeholder price of £299.

Since Nintendo has been hinting at a March release of the 3DS, WHSmith, Asda, Best Buy UK, TheHut, and Woolworths all apparently opine that the portable console will likely be launched on Friday, 18th March.

There is no clear indication of the 3DS' price on these portals - most of which are run from The Hut's centralised system -; and they simply require a pre-order deposit of £2.91, £2.93 or £2.97. In addition to these portals, GAME and Play.com are also offering 3DS pre-orders, though they seemingly do not require any deposit.

Meanwhile, it is being speculated that Nintendo will probably unveil the launch details of the 3DS at the company's Amsterdam event next Wednesday. Nonetheless, it is being assumed that the handheld console will hit the UK on or around March 25; and its shelf price will likely be between £200 and £230.
