The Alaska oil pipes will remain shut for the next 36 hours. This news that was broken by the operator had added that the oil pile will remain closed due to some of the restoration works and bypass that is long overdue. The main reason as it turns out is because of the installation of the bypass which is aimed at restoring the oil shipment to the top volume. The line was shut down because of a leak that was detected last week and efforts are being made to restore all the difficult parts of the pipe.
As on Thursday the flow of the crude oil was around 320000 barrels per day which is almost the half of the original level. The rate fell drastically from 400000 bpd on Wednesday as this pipe drew less oil. This new installation will certainly be of great help to people since this will help to make sure that the oil gets transferred carefully and this is a great way to satisfy the huge demand for the oil. But until the pipe line is restored to its usual self it is difficult to transfer the required amount of oil from one place to another. The normal rates are around 630000 to 650000 bpd or in other words it is around 12 % of the total oil output of USA.
As is the case we see that the state produces oil which is obviously more than 6000000 bpd but in case of idling we see that the majority of the oil is cut into as low as 35000 bpd.
The need for crude oil is always in demand and so if the supply is halted for any reason then the price will automatically shoot up so all the aspect of the human condition must be kept in mind in order to maintain a growing and prosperous economy. So we can certainly say that the policy makers have a lot on their plates to ponder upon.
