Washington  - US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton met Wednesday with British former prime minister Tony Blair for talks on reviving the Mideast peace process.

Clinton's discussion with Blair marked the latest in a series of meetings she's undertaken as the United States seeks to revitalize the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Blair serves as the special envoy for a group of international mediators, consisting of the European Union, Russia, United Nations and United States. Blair is tasked with trying to build up Palestinian institutions and the economy in the West Bank.

Clinton met earlier with US President Barack Obama and his special envoy for the Middle East, former senator George Mitchell.

Mitchell just returned from a Mideast tour, undertaken to explore ways to move forward on the peace process in the region after three weeks of fighting in the Gaza Strip between the Israeli military and Hamas militants.

Mideast issues were also on the agenda when Clinton met Tuesday with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. (dpa)
