Finance ministers of Euro zone will discuss changes for rescuing fund

On Monday Euro zone finance ministers will discuss a hike in the effective lending capacity of the euro zone rescue fund, for trying to draw a line under the sovereign loan crisis before more countries need help.

The euro EUR= loomed just below a one-month high that was reached on Friday after successful debt auctions by Spain and Portugal. Dealers said further profits in the currency may depend on the result of the talks in Brussels.

The European Central Bank and the European Commission called last week for the region to increase the effective capacity of the rescue fund -- the European Financial Stability Facility -- as well as stretching its scope of operations.

Jean-Claude Trichet, the ECB President repeated about the central bank's view prior to the meeting in Brussels.

This fund, taken, needs to be enhanced, from its current standpoint qualitatively and quantitatively, as stated by Trichet, on a French talk show.

The fund can take money from markets with euro zone government guarantees of up to four hundred and forty billion euros.

But as it wants to have one AAA credit rating, the amount in effect, it can lend to countries in times of need is only nearly two hundred and fifty billion euros. A potential bid for help from Portugal and Spain would almost rip it of its limit.

The biggest economy of euro zone, Germany is decisive factor for any agreement on changes.

France seemed to be open to talks on an increase in the fund's lending capacity.

Senior European sources still told Reuters that Berlin's sense of urgency for raising the fund had lowered after successful bond auctions last week in Portugal and Spain, the two countries that were seen most at risk of following Greece and Ireland in seeking a financial bailout.
