He also added that they will retain all the functionality of the van and also look at its versatility at the same time.

The CEO meant that their focus will be to provide a minivan that is not the conventional one but can hold an entire family. He also mentioned that they are considering the Chrysler Town & Country which is about $30000 or more and also its cheaper make that is the Dodge Grand Caravan which is about $7000.

The CEO Marchionne said at the auto show at Detroit held last week that the customers were getting confused because of the selling of both the cars from the same stores. He also added that the company was developing a more versatile platform keeping in mind the tastes of the consumers.

This project is for the years to come that is 2013 and 2014 and it can see the company building some smaller minivans and other cars according to the taste of the customers. Marchionne said that at present the company is solely concentrating on the minivan and also plans to launch hybrid van by the year 2013.

The chief of the Dodge brand, Mr. Ralph Giles, said that the decision has not yet been made whether to cancel the T&C or the Caravan. He stated that they will watch the sales of the year 2011 before taking any decision because according to him it is difficult to kill a recognized nameplate.
