On Monday morning a 67-year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer's walked out of her house in -13 temperatures in Georgian Bluffs. The man called the police barely 15 minutes before discovering that she is not present in the house.
It was due to his quick action that the life of his wife was saved. The woman was found in the rural property close by and was taken to Wharton hospital for examination. She was later released.
Spokeswoman of a local Alzheimer's society revealed that it is very necessary to take immediate action if a person suffering from Alzheimer's goes missing.
The Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society of Grey Bruce, Deborah Barker, revealed that a search for dementia patient is always taken as an emergency.
According to researchers if a patient suffering from Alzheimer's is not found in the first 12 hours than his chances of surviving reduces to half.
