The online readers of the New York Times will now have to pay notably less than the $11.70 a week price for the printed edition. The price would also be less than $19.99, the price that the readers pay for the monthly subscription to NYT on Amazon’s Kindle.
So you can now have a full access to the New York Times website at a very reasonable price. Also the subscribers to the print version of NYT will have the required access to the online service as well.
The price of the web edition is reportedly comparable to the Kindle subscription, as said by the President of the New York Times Scott Heekin-Canedy.
Till date, while the new content was made freely available for the online readers to read, the new paywall is believed to be a reverse approach from it had been doing so far. The new paywall which is likely to come up this very month is different from the previous one since the readers were formerly charged for only the archived and editorial content in the newspaper.
Henceforth a few articles would be made free for the readers to access every month, but for anyone willing to read more, will have to go for a monthly subscription.
After a long time of testing, as in determining the right balance between the amounts of content that should remain free, the NYT is said to have finally come up with the decision. This decision is reportedly agreeable to most of the publishers and experts.
