The Affordable Care Act has provided prescription drug cost relief to around 78,000 people who were Medicare beneficiaries.
Kathleen Sebelius, U. S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary revealed that for quite some time now the old people as well as the people who are physically challenged had to choose between basic amenities like rent and food and prescription medication.
However, she is of the view that the Affordable Act will make things easy for such people. The act lowers the price of the prescription medicines every year up till the drug coverage gap is no more. This gap is called donut hole.
Sebelius disclosed this information in a press release which was given to media outlets in Detroit-area. The press release was aimed to muster support for the health care reform package which is being offered by the President. This week the reforms were repealed by the GOP-led U. S. House .
However, the reform is being criticized throughout the country as the critics are of the view that it will not be of significant help.
Only a few elements of the bill should be retained and rest of the bill should be revamped keeping in mind the choice of people and also whether it actually reduces the costs and provides both primary care as well as speciality care.
