Sean Parker: “The Social Network” is a “complete work of fiction”

During an on-stage interview at the DLD Conference 2011 in Munich, Sean Parker - the Facebook founding president and the founder of companies like Napster, Plaxo, and Causes - lashed out at the highly-acclaimed film, "the Social Network", and said that it was a "complete work of fiction."

Though Parker appreciated the production values of the film, he said that the portrayal of his character in the film - which revolved around Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and the creation of the social network - was far from real.

Stressing on the fictional aspect of "The Social Network," Parker said that the first clue was the over-glamorization of the film's characters that get to party with Victoria's Secret models; and added: "There are no Victoria's Secret models in Silicon Valley."

In addition, Parker also said that the film erroneously describes the manner in which he treated Facebook co-founder, Eduardo Saverin. Specifying that he particularly dislikes the scene where he writes a check to Saverin, Parker elaborated: "The part of the movie that frustrated me is actually the scene at the end where the character played by Justin Timberlake - who happens to have my name - basically writes a check to Eduardo and throws it in his face and has security escort him out of the building."

Saying that the depiction was "just rude," Parker - who was kicked out of Facebook early on - added that the film projects him as "a morally reprehensible human being."
