Wales Outcry for Insufficient Flu Vaccine

Many renowned doctors of Wales have come forward to express their disappointment over the insufficient stock of flu vaccine. Blaming people of their callous attitude for not taking the flu jab on time, Dr Tony Jewell has appealed the authorities to fill up the stock.

As per the latest figures released by Public health Wales, 62.4% of the over 65 had the seasonal jab in comparison to the target of 70%. Though many doctors have confirmed that people of any age or gender are prone to flu, health experts have stressed eligible patients to take timely flu jab to avoid any emergency.

Dr Meirion Evans, regional epidemiologist at Public Health Wales, reportedly said that GPs hold the key to increasing the take-up of the seasonal flu jab, and recommend to purchase the stock of vaccine centrally, rather than by individual GP practices.

Further, he appealed to provide financial incentive to GPs for achieving the target so as to change the method of administration. Despite of the entire outcry, many health experts in the east of England have reassured people of sufficient stock to combat any crisis.

With the considerable slow down in the number Dr Anne McConville, acting regional director of public health has warned people to remain vigilant to the flu season.
