Deutsche Bank “overwhelmingly positive” on iPhone trial
Deutsche Bank, Apple

A recently-released Deutsche Bank Equity Research report has revealed that the company's two-month trial of the Apple iPhone - using Good Technology's secure email app - was an "overwhelming positive" experience, despite a few minor hiccups.

Talking about the highly satisfactory trial of the iPhone, Deutsche Bank's research analyst Chris Whitmore said in a telephonic statement: "You're seeing consumers, or employees, bring their iPhones in to IT managers and `say make this work'."

The statement implicitly underscores a scenario in which a slew of small security software developers are helping the iPhone gain traction within businesses - a market that is typically considered the exclusive domain of Research In Motion's BlackBerry.

According to Whitmore, the trial had Deutsche Bank using Good Technologies' third party iOS app, together with Microsoft Exchange Server, to deliver corporate email and calendar data to mobile users with AES 192 encryption.

The report further indicates that enterprise data is separated from any private email and calendar accounts that have been independently set up by users on their iPhone; and that the process of setting up Good's software on the user side takes approximately 10-15 minutes.

Meanwhile, the `BlackBerry to iPhone' shift - which indicates the efforts that some companies are making to accommodate the preference of many employees for the iPhone - is clearly becoming a trend which has led software makers to develop programs for delivering secure email and other data over the popular Apple handset.
