In an audio clip that surfaced online Thursday, Etta James, 71, says she would like to 'whip' Beyonce for singing 'her song' 'At Last' at one of the inaugural balls held for President Barack Obama.
'The great Beyonce ... I can't stand Beyonce,' says James in a 31st January concert clip taken at the Boulevard Casino in Coquitlam , British Columbia . 'I tell you, that woman he has singing for him, singing my song, she gonna get her ... whipped. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol' president day, gonna be singing my song that I've been singing forever.'
Beyonce, who portrayed James in last year's film 'Cadillac Records', performed that tune among many others in the film, singing her predecessor's praises: 'She's a living legend and I want her to love the movie, and I hope she does.'
James and Beyonce's spokespeople declined to comment.
