Hepatitis A Case found in North York Restaurant

The authorities of Toronto Public Health are requesting each and everybody to get Hepatitis A vaccine those who ate at Sierra Grill North York Restaurant on 23 Jan 2011.

An employee of this restaurant who resides at 2901 Bayview Ave., near Sheppard Avenue, has been tested positive with this virus. Thus, anyone who has dined here may be exposed to the virus.

In a press release from the Toronto Public Health, if "someone with Hepatitis A infection handles food without properly washing their hands after using the toilet, the infection can be spread to others who eat food contaminated with the virus."

The medical officer involved said that this is only a precautionary procedure and the chance of infection is very low.

Free health check up will be available for the people who had their food on Jan 23, 2011 in that restaurant. The free clinic will be held at North York Memorial Hall on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

It is a recoverable disease and there are no deaths involved. People who get affected with this virus usually suffer from symptoms like fever, vomiting, and dark urine in about 15 – 20 days after infection.
