Calling Los Angeles-based radio station KROQ, Actor Christian Bale apologized for his tirade that found its way on to the internet, calling it 'inexcusable' and admitting 'I acted like a punk', adding 'I was out of order beyond belief. I make no excuses for it.'
Apparently, Bale, 35, distracted by a crew member walking into his eyeline during a take, launched into a three-minute rant on the set of his new film 'Terminator Salvation', screaming threats and swearing at Shane Hurlbut, in charge of the film's photography.
An embarrassed Bale, talking to presenters Kevin Ryder and Gene 'Bean' Baxter, admitted he had taken things too far.
Bale, who plays main character John Connor in the film, says the scene interrupted was key to the story, in which he was 'trying to convey' the madness the character he was playing had inherited from his Sarah Connor, his mother in 1991's hit film 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day'. Which explains Bale losing his cool, and as he said on radio: 'I completely mixed up fact and fiction, I'm half John Connor, I'm half Christian there.'
Dismissing threats of getting Hurlbut fired as 'hot air', Bale told the station they had reconciled since the showdown and had resolved things completely.
