Spitzer’s Prostitution Ringleader Gets 30-Month Sentence

Mark Brener, 63, the leader of a prostitution ring run from the Emperors Club VIP, whose clients included former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit prostitution offenses and money laundering.

U. S. District Judge Denny Chin sentencing Brener, unmoved by Brener's lawyer's appeal of 'collateral damage' in the Spitzer investigation, dismissed the notion that prostitution is a victimless crime.

The prostitution ring's manager received six months in prison in last month, while the booking agent got one year of probation, while a second agent awaits sentencing. If, the case went on trial and Brener was convicted, he faced up to 25-years in prison time.

Though, prostitution is illegal in most U. S. states, clients rarely get prosecuted.
