A few days back, one of the users of Yahoo’s Flickr, Mirco Wilhelm, made a complaint about the account that held stolen material, But, yesterday, Yahoo’s Flickr faced a mishap when Wilhelm was unable to log on to his own 5- year old account. On being asked about the same, he was informed by the Flickr team that instead of the culprit’s account, his entire account as well 4,000 photos in it were mistakenly deleted.
Flickr team wrote to him an apology letter feeling sorry for their negligence. They promised him to restore his account and rewarded him a 4 year free subscription in lieu of their mistake. But, they could not recover his 4000 photos.
In response to the letter, Wilhelm said that he already has free Pro subscriptions for the next year, so, the reward offered by them cannot make for the loss of 4000 photos and extensive links that he had made in long span of 5 years. He also said that being a paid user he expects much more than just a sorry.
When Wilhelm questioned their ability to recover such mistakes, team informed him that basically there is no way to restore accidentally deleted paid accounts on Flickr but they are working on it and in future they will not let users suffer because of such errors. They ensured him that his account will be terminated as early as possible.
