Though, the state of Alabama was among the victorious American states recently, when the US District Court Judge Roger Vinson had ruled that the Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional. But, the question remains to be asked whether the decision of the state is the right one as, if looked at from a certain point of view. The so called Obamacare would have helped the problem of a lack of insurance among Alabamans.
It needs to be remembered that the loss of Obamacare was also a loss to 14% of people living in Alabama who are without any sort of a health insurance cover.
It was only last year, when the former Attorney General of Alabama, Troy King had criticized the act as soon as it was signed by President Barack Obama. He had announced that the law was an unconstitutional one ad that he would make sure that it is not implemented.
The ruling handed down this Monday was in favour of the 26-states that had come together against the law.
Opinion regarding Obamacare has not changed a bit, despite, the fact that the Attorney General has changed. The current leader of Alabama, Luther Strange, expressed that the verdict handed down by Judge Vinson was great news.
It seems that the state of Alabama is currently more inclined towards what it believes in, even though, figures released by the Kaiser Family Foundation have stated that 674,900-Alabamians will lose out because of this decision.
