There has been a sudden increase in the number of reported HIV infections among young black men in Milwaukee County among young black men. These men got this infection after having sex with men. They have been linked with several risk factors, including internalized homophobia and living on streets. These are being reported by local state federal health officials on Thursday.
This study started after the Wisconsin Division of Public Health noted a 144 percent increase in the HIV in Milwaukee County from 2000 to 2008. This has been mostly in black men between ages 15 to 29 who have sex with men.
The resulting investigation in Milwaukee Health Department and U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention have found that the increase was not due to intensified testing efforts, but there was increased transmission of HIV through high risk behaviour and nondisclosure of HIV status.
Milwaukee Health Commissioner Bevan Baker has warned that if single young black men are not diagnosed correctly of HIV then the whole community will see the rise of HIV infection cases.
More number of black men has male sex partners and this is the reason this virus is spreading so fast. Older men have more tendencies to get infected with HIV.
