According to reports, the South Korea-based electronics company LG will most probably unveil its Optimus 3D - what will the world’s first 3D smartphone – by mid-February.
It is been expected that the unveiling of LG’s Optimus 3D – which will challenge the dominance of the Apple iPhone – will come at Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade fair which will be held in Barcelona on February 14.
Being touted as “the most advanced smartphone to date”, the Optimus 3D will allow users to shoot 3D pictures and videos using its dual-lens camera. Users will also be able to view 3D images as well as play 3D games, sans the requirement of any special glasses.
Noting that the 3D effect results from a separate layer on the screen which shows a different image to each eye, LG said in a statement: “The LG Optimus 3D addresses the lack of 3D content issue - one of the biggest problems facing the 3D market - with a complete platform for a one-of-a-kind experience on a mobile device.”
As per the reports, the LG Optimus will likely hit the UK markets around summer this year. The handset will be available from Vodafone as well 3, with their respective contracts.
