By way of a third-party multiplayer shooter demonstration of its 2010's ‘Aliens vs. Predator (AvP)’ title, Rebellion recently revealed that Asura - the internal game engine powering the bug-hunt game - is now “fully playable” on Sony’s Next Generation Portable (NGP).
According to Rebellion, it has been possible to make the notably versatile Asura compatible with the NGP in such record time largely because of the fact that - in terms of what gamers get out of the box - the technology essentially comprises the entire bundle: including the engine, lighting, and physics; which is all part of the Asura package.
Noting that “the technology, design and art teams have worked incredibly well with Sony's newest device,” the Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley said: “We have managed to make our engine fully functional, and looking great on the hardware in double quick time.”
Kingsley further added: “We'll be attending DICE and GDC to show what we have created and look for business partners.”
As per a Develop report, via Eurogamer, Rebellion – the creator of the hugely popular AvP title – has been actively working with Sony on its new NGP handheld platform. The report also stated that Rebellion has successfully modified its Asura Engine such that the game can benefit from Sony’s new portable device “in preparation for a new series of internally-built handheld projects.”
