According to a recent vg247. com article, the excitement over the likelihood of a `Nintendo vs. Capcom' game coming up in the future was apparently short-lived, since Capcom's Yoshinori Ono has debunked the rumors about such a title.
Speculations about a Nintendo vs. Capcom game were heightened when Ono made some light-hearted comments about the title at the Gamecom gaming convention last year. However, Ono has now apologized to Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata for apparently creating such a ruckus about the possibility of the game and letting things go out of hand.
In a recent clarification with IGN, Ono said that he had only mentioned at Gamecom that Nintendo vs. Capcom was "an interesting idea"; but the statement was somehow interpreted to imply that he had plans to make the game.
In other words, Ono apparently meant that he was interested in putting across the idea of such a game to Nintendo; but, now he claims that the crossover seems unlikely.
Ono told IGN: "I certainly don't think anything is impossible;" and added: "though not terribly likely is probably a way to phrase it." Nonetheless, according to Matthew Reynolds, at digitialspy. co. uk, Ono still hopes that the entire episode, and probably a conversation with Nintendo, will possibly lead to something in the future.
