SCVNGR’s New Partnership with Sprint to Open Prospects

SCVNGR's new partnership with Sprint was announced on Tuesday which has opened further prospects. Later this month, the location-based mobile game will be automatically preloaded on LG Optimus V handsets, as per reports.

Just alongside the YouTube application, this SCVNGR app would be displayed on the homescreen and will also be made a part of the LG Optimus V device packaging.

This pre-loaded application would also provide an additional exposure for the service which is said to have secured $15 million in Series C funding. The startup asserts that this would be the first time ever that a location-based app would come preloaded on any mobile device.

A prepaid and no-contract pricing alternative is being offered by a Sprint Nextel brand, Virgin Mobile USA. A slim Android phone with a 3.2-inch touchscreen priced at $149.99 without a contract, this LG Optimus V, a Virgin Mobile device is considered to be similar to the Optimus S.

"The new year here at SCVNGR is all about building on the partnerships and user growth of our break-out year, and coming pre-loaded alongside apps like YouTube and Gmail is a huge testament to consumer response and engagement", says Chris Mahl, SCVNGR Senior Vice President.
