Forbes names Will Smith as world's most valuable star

Los Angeles (dpa) - Actor Will Smith was named Tuesday as Hollywood's most bankable star in an annual listing compiled by the financial magazine Forbes.

Smith, 40, scored a perfect 10 on the survey of 150 undisclosed industry insiders with Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio and Hollywood super-couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt following tying for second with scores of 9.89.

Tom Hanks was ranked sixth, followed by George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson. Julia Roberts in the 11th spot was the second-placed woman after Jolie. Meryl Streep was in 16th place.

Most of those placed high on the list were well above 40, with Clint Eastwood at age 78 being the oldest on the list in 20th position.

The younger actors were led by Transformers star Shia Labeouf, aged 22, in 33rd spot. Other youngsters included Keira Knightley, 23, in 42nd place and Scarlett Johansson, 24, in 78th. The stars were ranked on their ability to attract financing for a project and appeal to different audiences across a range of genres, Forbes said. (dpa)
