Investigations regarding faulty conclusions being made by radiologists in medical scans got bigger as credentials regarding another professional were questioned in British Columbia. According to an announcement made by Health Minister Colin Hansen, the St Joseph’s General Hospital has already suspended the radiologist.
The radiologist in question had been practicing since the past three decades and was well respected by his colleagues. Though, he was found to be wrongly interpreting CT scans and various other medical scans.
Talking about the situation, Hansen informed that worries regarding the radiologist had been expressed by people and following an inquiry it was revealed that the medical professional was wrongly interpreting the scans. Though, Hansen did not have complete information regarding the controversy as neither his ministry, nor the Vancouver Island Health Authority was informed about the plans.
Meanwhile, health officials at the Fraser and coastal health regions of Vancouver have informed that they were working on the case since October. But, informed the ministry about the controversy recently.
Hansen has not informed about the total number of people affected because of misdiagnosis done by the doctor. He added that the hospital was not a public body and it was facility that was being operated by the Catholic Diocese of Victoria.
