Ukraine is under the specter of AIDS epidemic. As per reports, Ukraine is reeling under the burden of insufficient supply of drugs and people are raising questions over the role of government in controlling the situation.
As per the statistics, only 20,000 of Ukraine's 93,000 people with AIDS or on the verge of developing it are getting proper treatment and rest of the citizens have to face the wrath of reduced supply of drugs.
In the wake of brewing anger over the insuifficinet supply of drugs, many local organizations have criticised the local government of allegedly tying up with the drug suppliers and henceforth, putting the health of the hundreds of children at risk.
Many health experts have raised their voice over the potential impact of this controlled supply of drugs on the physical health of the patients. Reportedly, an international aid agency had threatened to pull out investment from Ukraine till the same supply is being restored.
Further, AIDS groups are claiming that AIDS therapy is going to take a big blow as the supply of the substitute drug is quite uncertain in the coming weeks. In the wake of brewing concern among the community, Dmytro Sherembey of the All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV blamed the government of playing with the lives of citizens especially, children.
Adding fuel to the fire, WHO has reportedly warned people of the potential side effects of shifting the medication under AIDs therapy.
