Farmers Fear Alfafa’s Fate

The high protein Alfalfa falls to the Empire of Monsanto. This crop has always been valued by the Persians. This crop has mainly being used for cattle food and is the fourth- largest crop in the United States. The farming community is astonished by the decision of using Monsanto's Roundup Ready Alfalfa (RRA) for Alfafa. This decision has been strongly opposed.

Once RRA is grown the weed will develop a resistance to the round. On the other hand Alfalfa also grows well with weeds in a properly managed system.

Americans do not like genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Any such change is never welcomed by them. The farmers fear the GMO trends the most. In August 2010 a federal judge had issued an order to stop the planting of GMO sugar beets as the environmental studies were still reported pending. The use of round up in commercial agriculture has been the prime reason for the growth of a new category of super weed.

This super weed has forced farmer to use of a stronger pesticides. To avoid cross-pollination a huge number of farmers buy the seeds from abroad. Alfafa is vulnerable to biological trespass as it pollinated by far ranging bees.
