Funds have been approved from the Michael J. Fox Foundation for the pre-clinical research trial on a drug that supposedly can treat Parkinson’s disease.
This drug has already been tested by the Windsor University. This test was done on rats and the results were positive and encouraging.
There was a donation made two years ago by Joseph Szecsei, 81, a Windsorite. The donation amount was a huge $50,000. With the help of this donation, the researchers of the University could buy a stereologer microscope system.
With the use of this machine, they could accurately the number of dopamine neurons in the brain that are destroyed by Parkinson’s disease.
The formula tested that stopped the formation of the disease is CoQ10. The research completed its first stage successfully with the help of the stereologer.
This is what helped to convince the generous Michael J. Fox foundation to fund the next phase of the crucial research.
The research shall be overviewed by a New Jersey pharmaceutical company, Zymes LLC. They are the owner of the rights of the formula.
There shall be a similar research carried out by the University of Windsor and Dr. Marianna Sirkorska of the Ottawa-based National Research Council.
