O2 will sell “an exclusive white version” of Sony Ericsson Xperia Play
O2 will sell “an exclusive white version” of Sony Ericsson Xperia Play

According to reports, while all leading networks in the UK will apparently carry the much-hyped and highly-awaited Sony PlayStation phone, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, an exclusive white version of the handset will only be available on O2.

About carrying the brilliant white version of the Xperia Play, O2 said in a recent tweet: “Great news: not only will we be selling Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, we’ll have an exclusive white version!”

Those potential users of the new white version of the handset who wish to make the iPhone owners envious – the white version of iPhone has not been released thus far – can take a peek at the pictures for which O2 has put up a link. The images clearly reveal that the white Xperia Play will be ‘very white.’

The notable specs of the Xperia Play include a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 854 x 480; a 1GHz processor; and a 5-megapixel camera. The handset, which runs Android 2.3 version, also features an all important slide-out gamepad controller, and an Adreno GPU which, as per Sony’s claims, hits a smooth 60fps.

Meanwhile, even though O2 has revealed it will be exclusively stocking the white Xperia Play, the carrier has refrained from divulging either the exact launch or the pricing details. In what is a rather predictable statement, O2 merely said that full price details “will come before launch though.”

Nonetheless, there are speculations galore that the handset will probably be launched next month.
