Sales of Travelodge grew by thirteen percent

Travelodge, the budget hotel chain will be reporting of a thirteen per cent sales growth for last year, with a forecast for further expansion this year.

The chain will be announcing today of a like-for-like growth of 6 % led by eleven per cent growth in London, and a total of 7.2million room sales, with thirteen million customers, up twelve per cent from the previous year.

Guy Parsons, the chief executive stated that in spite of the impact in this year of the VAT increase and fuel and energy price rises, 2011 trading is in accordance with management expectations and the firm was quite confidents with its view points of the longer term.

Parsons further stated that in spite of the tough climate in 2010, they have delivered a good performance whilst continuing with their strategic UK growth program and demonstrating Travelodge’s continued strong recovery.

The firm had served record numbers of customers, gained in total sales and opened seventy new hotels in excellent locations; they have targeted sites that would have been beyond their reach before the recession. The deal with Mitchells and Butlers, which saw the firm acquire fifty two of their hotels, shows the ground-breaking approach they have taken towards their aggressive growth plans.

With a sustained focus on steering growth this year, they have already opened four hotels and are currently building a further thirty six hotels. They are creating as many as seven hundred and twenty five new jobs, ensuring they are well on track to reach over one thousand one hundred hotels and hundred thousand rooms by 2025.

Over the past five years Travelodge has stressed on city centre growth in a bid to move away from roadside locations. 18% per cent of its rooms are now in London, with sixty two per cent in major towns and cities and twenty per cent in the traditional motorway or roadside spots.
