UAE Team to Commence Vaccination Campaign in Pakistan

A team of volunteers of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA), including medical and nursing cadres have started a campaign to vaccinate over two million Pakistani children. The children will be vaccinated against measles and polio and the campaign will be undertaken in coordination with UNICEF.

Chairperson of the General Women's Union and of Family Development Foundation, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, has funded the vaccination campaign.

After their arrival in Pakistan the team held a coordination meeting with UNICEF Officials and the representatives of the Health Ministry in Karachi to set the schedule for the campaign. The vaccination program will deliver vaccination at 188 vaccination centers in 18 areas in Sindh region.

A local support team of 402 people will participate in the campaign along with the UAE team. These teams will spread awareness among the targeted people about the importance of vaccination against measles and polio.

In a previous campaign launched by Red Crescent Authority (RCA), 650, 000 women and children were vaccinated in the first phase and 850,000 were vaccinated in the second phase. The campaign was launched to vaccinate children and women against polio, measles and tetanous, in the flood affected areas in Khayber region.
