Bali In Mid Of Trouble As Rabies Spread All Over

Indonesian Authority confirmed officially that rabies has spread all over Bali where death toll is rising day by day. Report shows that this year at least five persons have died in Bali due to rabies. In the year 2008 there was an official announcement about the outbreak of rabies. Since then it has taken 119 lives. There might more number of deaths as the report provided by the authority is not accurate always.

According to Bali Health Office Chief, Nyoman Sutedja, this dangerous disease has spread to each and every district located on the main island and other islands which come under its jurisdiction are facing the same situation.

The Chief further added that Nusa Penida which is a small island situated at the southeast of Bali, was earlier free from the disease. But the outbreak of this highly infectious disease was unavoidable when a visitor took his infected pet there. Two people died of rabies there in the month of January.

Health Chief also said that health department implemented few strategies to fight the disease and reduce the number of death in Nusa Penida Island. The department introduced vaccination program and providing training to people so that they can fight rabies. At the same time lot of rabies centre are established to help people.
