Governor Andrew Cuomo has finally given in to the new Medicaid plan, which will be aimed at introducing new legislations while retaining some of his suggestions.
The major change that Mr. Cuomo aspired for was the implication of his much-solicited ways of cutting the healthcare costs. He hoped to save whopping $2.85 billion from them.
But, the hospital industry seemed quite unconvinced with his over-stretched visionary approach.
On Thursday, Mr. Cuomo divulged his special report that focuses on long-term quality health services, caps pain and compensation of $250,000 to the victims of malpractices.
It also aims to provide a margin to freedom of future spending.
With the new Medicaid plan laid down by Mr. Cuomo, nearly $2.3 million savings were expected in the next fiscal year. The Medicaid spending was also estimated to observe a plunge of 2% from the current year, with estimated $52.8 million.
It was after the intervention of the state's largest Medicaid providers, the Governor agreed to cut on his high expectations.
The final plan now aims at the total savings worth $1.7 billion.
On this, Democratic assemblyman Richard Gottfried, the Chairman of the health committee, stated, "It will take more than a year to implement and get savings from most of these changes".
