University of Utah hosted the third edition of the Forever Pink Prom this weekend. The event was held to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer and was an initiative of the Elyse Pantke White Foundation and the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
Organizers informed that the event is held to remember the people who have died because of cancer. Apart from that, it also helps in saving millions of lives by raising awareness about breast cancer and funding research work on this subject.
City authorities have already distributed 500 pink colored cans among people in anticipation of support provided by the Board of Aldermen. Furthermore cans have been ordered by authorities already as demand for pink cans is bound to increase in the time to come.
All the money raised by the sale of pink cans will be used in providing support to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Officials are hoping that apart from raising money for breast cancer, the pink cans will also help in increasing awareness about this dreaded condition.
Talking about the hope behind this noble initiative, Alderman Don Tullos said that it is being hoped that the initiative will at least help in saving one life.
