Measles Outbreak Scare in U.S.

There is a scare of a possible measles outbreak in the United States of America. This is after an infected woman had travelled across the country. There are warnings and efforts being made by the local, state and the federal health agencies for the prevention of the same.

It is an airborne virus that can be contracted easily when one comes into contact with the infected person. It can be spread through the sneeze, cough or the other secretions from the mouth of the infected person.

The woman is supposed to be a resident of New Mexico. According to Tom Skinner a spokesman for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, "The work is going on to reach those individuals that were sitting in close proximity to the infected person", Skinner said. "We need to reach those that were within five rows in front and five rows behind the infected person".

According to some reports in the media, the woman is in her twenties and reached the Washington Dulles International Airport on Tuesday, February 22, from London.

Measles is a highly contagious disease and care needs to be taken that effective measures of control are registered to avoid the further spread of the same.
