It's a boy for British pop singer M. I. A., 31, and musician Benjamin Brewer, son of Canadian liquor scion Edgar Bronfman, chairman and CEO of Warner Music Group. The Oscar nominated rapper M. I. A., who strutted on stage despite her swollen belly during a Grammy performance last Sunday with Kanye West, Jay-Z, T. I. and Lil Wayne, only to go into labour hours later, gave birth Wednesday to a baby boy, who she writes on her MySpace page is: 'healthy, fine, beautiful and the most amazing thing ever on this planet'.
A born in Britain, but raised in Sri Lanka Tamil, where her father fought for a separate Tamil state, M. I. A., whose real name is Mathangi 'Maya' Arulpragasam, came into the spotlight with the release of her second album 'Kala', a blending of cross-cultural beats, slogans and lyrical drama, while her single 'Paper Plane', was nominated for record of the year at the Grammies.
